Cross Collection

Passion for Cross Collections

This site was originally set up to share my passion for not only The Cross, but for my cross collection. I collect the Latin style cross. That's what this post will be about.

I have a deep passion for cross collection. My main passion is for wall crosses. My cross collection only consist of about 65. Are they all hanging? You ask. I am in the process of rearranging. So about 7 of those are not hanging at this time. I don't spread them out over the house. My collection is on a couple of walls in my living room. Not only so my hearts passion will be fulfilled, but they are also a great conversation piece. After the awe of them ware off. My visitors find some of the stories behind them to be interesting. Even my regular visitors always look to see if I have any new additions to my cross collection.

I would like to share a couple of stories that mean a lot to me. I guess this first one over time actually started my passion for collecting crosses. It was given to me by my secret sister at church. Her husband made it. A simple wooden cross but he made it into a jigsaw puzzle (which I also love, he didn't know that). I put it together glued it and put a hanger on it and hung it up. That cross is very dear to me, I have had it for about 22 or 23 years. I no longer have contact with those friends but they are in my heart threw the cross.

The other reminds me of a song I heard that moved Gods spirit in me threw a rose. The name is "The Rose of Bethlehem" song by Selah. That Christmas my mom and dad gave me a cross to add to my collection. The cross looks like it was carved from stone nothing fancy just plain and simple. Tied to the cross with three wraps of wire is a single rose. Is it a beautiful cross? Yes, but the beauty of it can only be seen through the words of this song, for one and for two they didn't know about the song. Out of all the crosses that's the one God wanted them to give me at that time. When I seen the cross my eyes immediately filled with tears as they do when I hear that song.

The crosses I have collected have come from many different means. I bought some of them myself. My children have made some in vacation Bible school. I have friends that gave me the most for gifts. Which actually keeps them from having a hard time on what to give me for birthdays or Christmas. I am always looking for a unique cross to add to my collection.
